What the Interview Process Looks like
-
A Video Intake Consultation is where I will gather information about the interviewee. This does not need to be done with the interviewee and can be done with a family member. I like to understand the circumstances under which you and your family/loved ones are wanting a video.
In this consultation I can answer any questions and we will also schedule the interview date.
Additionally, I will provide the interviewee a list of themes or questions we will go through in their video to help them prepare for what kinds of things they want to talk about/prepare for.
-
Before the interview, I like to spend some time with the interviewee to talk a little about what this video is, my role in it and learn about the Interviewee‘s desires for the video. We will have a conversation about what I believe is important in the video, how I go about asking questions, my timeline for the video, and so on. In the end, it is important for me that the interviewee have autonomy on how this video is done.
-
Interviews can last from 1.5-3 hours long. We will be able to take breaks as needed. I am dedicated to nurturing a space that is comfortable for the interviewee. I ask that no family members or friends are present at the time of the interview.
Interviews will feel more conversational. Stories may consist of but are not limited to: stories of childhood, family life, work, life experiences, joys, and hardships.
Interviews will be done on a professional camera, and lighting will be provided if needed/desired.
-
It is completely up to the interviewee if they would like to see their video. I am happy to send it to them at any point once it is finished. Please allow 6-8 weeks for a finished piece.
It is also up to the interviewee how they wish the video to be delivered. It is recommended that no one see the video until their passing; however, it is completely up to the interviewee how that is handled. There will be multiple ways to handle how the finished product is distributed and to whom. This will be discussed and decided both at the meet and greet and after the interview. The interviewee also reserves the right to change their mind at any point on how the video is handled/distributed to family and friends and I will honor their choice.
-
If the interviewee feels they left something out or forgot something, have no fear! We can get a recording of the story or statement and I can add it to the video as an addendum.
